How confident are you that your critical assets will perform safely under normal operating conditions?

When a 16-tonne gearbox collapses from a stacker reclaimer during normal operation, it is a stark reminder that asset integrity is not just a maintenance issue. It’s a safety, operational and business-critical risk.

The July 2026 edition of WorkSafe Mines Safety Monthly Incident Insights highlights exactly this type of event: a critical mechanical failure with potentially serious or fatal consequences.

Despite asset integrity standards, audits and corporate maintenance management systems, asset failures continue to occur.

For asset owners and operators in mining, energy and natural resources, the lesson is clear: having data is not enough. Organisations need a practical way to manage, interpret and act on asset integrity information before defects escalate into failures.

That is the purpose of IMPOWER TECHNOLOGIES® MRMP® Solution for Asset Integrity & Risk Management, developed by mining asset specialists for the resources sector.

IMPOWER’s MRMP® Solution provides a standardised, risk-based approach to asset integrity management, helping organisations gain clear insight into the condition of large-scale critical assets and strengthen decision-making from operations through to the board.

It provides:

  • Consistent asset integrity records across assets, inspectors and inspection types.
  • Early identification of overlooked defects that could lead to asset failure.
  • Better use of maintenance management systems to resolve asset integrity issues.
  • A standardised defect database to support Artificial Intelligence-enabled asset management, productivity and safety improvements.
  • Full owner/operator control of asset data.

Since its introduction in 2010, IMPOWER’s MRMP® Solution has supported risk-based maintenance prioritisation, insurance cost reduction, asset redesign and capital planning.
