EngConnect Your Career in Electrical Engineering

In May 2021, Dr Yvonne Power, together with Speakers from Woodside (/NASA), and Horizon Power, presented at Engineers Australia’s ‘EngConnect your Career’ series of events for students and graduates to hear from engineers on where their studies have taken them.

Yvonne spoke about where her undergraduate degree in electrical engineering (UWA) and PhD (Engineering) from Murdoch University has led to a career allowing her to travel, working nationally and internationally, introducing advanced and award-winning solutions into large scale operations.

Dr Yvonne Power is honoured to be nominated for a 2019 Women in Technology (WiTWA) Award.

Reflecting on her career in technology over the past twenty years, Yvonne recognises the important and positive influence female role models have played throughout her career.  She believes it’s important for women to be visible and to make their stories known, to inspire more women into Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).

Dr Yvonne Power returned to Murdoch University School of Engineering, where between 2000-04, she completed her PhD in Engineering under the supervision of Professor Parisa Bahri.  Dr Power had the pleasure of listening to a group of PhD research students present on their research projects and spoke to them about her experiences ‘From PhD to Entrepreneur’.
