On Wednesday 24th September 2025, Dr Yvonne Power shared insights from her career introducing intelligent systems into the resources sector with the next generation of asset management professionals entering industry with access to a proliferation of Artificial Intelligence technologies. Her presentation ‘Industrial AI for Asset Management’ focused on the skills needed to introduce these technologies into an industrial setting.

The evening, organized by the Asset Management Council of Australia’s Perth Chapter committee, was enthusiastically attended by the next cohort of Asset Management professionals.

On 25th August 2025, Dr Yvonne Power participated as a panel member at the Engineers Australia Generative AI (GenAI) News & Networking event.  The discussion followed an introductory opening by Professor Sharath Sriram, Chief Scientist for Western Australia, and Adam Kinnest recently appointed General Manager of Engineers Australia WA Division.  The panel addressed several topics, including:

  • Opportunities and risk associated with the widespread adoption of GenAI.
  • The evolution of jobs due to GenAI and measures to mitigate job loss risks.
  • University approaches to prepare graduates for GenAI in the workplace.
  • Adoption of GenAI in the local resources industry (mining, met, oil & gas).
  • Skills required for graduates across different sectors.
  • Guidelines and regulations regarding GenAI and their implications.
  • Environmental impacts of GenAI on electricity, water and critical minerals.
  • Guidance to individuals new to GenAI tools?

This event formed part of Curtin University’s research into how various industry sectors use GenAI and ways to better prepare STEM Graduates for employment.  The study is supported by Curtin University’s Assessment 2030 Future Fund grant. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Asset Management

The latest Asset Management Quarterly Journal from the Asset Management Council of Australia highlights how Artificial Intelligence will enhance maintenance and asset management.

In Technical Article 4, “Industry 5.0: New Frontiers for Integrated Operations Management,” Dr Yvonne Power explores a future scenario for industrial asset management featuring Generative AI at the core of maintenance and asset management. It includes an overview of the skills needed to support this transition.

Dr Yvonne Power elected as Non Executive Director of the AM Council of Australia Board

On Tuesday 8th April 2025, Dr Yvonne Power was elected as a Non-Executive Director of the Asset Management Council of Australia Board at their Annual General Meeting held at AMPEAK on the Gold Coast.

Dr Power looks forward to stepping up into this new role, having been a member of the Asset Management Council since 2010.

On Wednesday 9th April 2025, Dr Yvonne Power, Principal IMPOWER TECHNOLOGIES® (IMPOWER™) presented at the Asset management Council of Australia’s annual AMPEAK conference held in Queensland.  The theme for AMPEAK25 was New Waves in Asset Management, Advancing Asset Management in a Digital, Sustainable, and Resilient Future.

Dr Power’s presentation focused on how organisations could build on the foundation created in Industry 4.0 and explored how to introduce advanced technologies to support the transition to Industry 5.0.  The presentation went into detail on how Generative AI may be used for maintenance planning and scheduling.  It ended with one possible scenario of Next Generation Maintenance and Asset Management.
